The triCityNews is an alternative newspaper focusing on the arts, culture, business, government and politics in eastern Monmouth County, New Jersey. Distribution is from Atlantic Highlands to Belmar. The triCityNews publishes every Thursday.

Our mission is to identify and promote all that’s creative and alternative in our midst. The end game is the transformation of the triCity region of eastern Monmouth into a suburban area like no other — a place as happening as any happening small or medium-sized city. We’ve made great strides in that regard. You read about it every week in our pages.

Founded back in 1999, the triCityNews gets its inspiration from the alternative newspapers of old, like the Village Voice, as well as the crisp writing of the more traditional Wall Street Journal, particularly its editorials — whether we agree with them or not.

Like all newspapers, we cover current events in the topics of our focus, with emphasis on the triCities of Asbury Park, Red Bank and Long Branch, as well as all our interesting small towns in eastern Monmouth. Plus we provide coverage and listings of interesting events for the coming week to keep readers engaged in what’s offered here. And like the greatest newspapers once did, we have our regular opinion columnists from opposite political perspectives. Trust us, we catch crap for that from all sides. But at least there’s one media platform in this country that’s not afraid to give viewpoints from the left and right under one roof. Cancel culture? Not here.

So why do we do it? To defeat that most pernicious enemy we all face out here in suburbia. Namely, boredom. Judging by the growth of our newspaper and the large number of satisfied advertisers who stay in the triCityNews week after week, we think we're winning that battle.
